The souto da Retorta or Chavin eucalyptus is characterized by «O Avó», one of the first eucalyptus trees planted in the Viveiro area to drain the area. The grandfather with 65m height and 10m perimeter is a clear example of the importance and growth of eucalyptus (native to New Zealand) in the area. So, the second largest growth of Eucaliptus globulus in the world occur in the Mariña Lucense, after Brazil.
