Press release
The Pazo da Trave is a country establishment exquisitely reconstructed on the ruins of an old 15th century pazo built by the aristocracy of Galicia and Asturias. It has 18 rooms, fourteen of which are doubles and four are suites. They all have individual names and are customised to offer different layouts and sleeping capacity, ¾three suites for four persons and another particularly special one with canopy and Jacuzzi for two persons, sloping attic ceilings and views to the garden and Monte Castelo ¾ decorated in fine detail with works of art.
The house is located in the town of Galdo, three kilometres from Viveiro, in the province of Lugo, in one of the most outstanding Rías Altas (Upper Rías) of Galicia, surrounded by clean beaches with plenty of space to enjoy bathing whilst admiring the landscape.
The pazo is surrounded by more than 5000 square metres of garden, which houses an arbour, a granary and a small chapel, a well beside an orange tree and a spectacular palm tree, a memento of the Indianos (Spaniards who returned to Spain after having made their fortune in Latin America). The garden also has a small forest populated with autochthonous Galician trees and a pretty pigeon-house.
The common areas offer two conference rooms with capacity for 20 and 60 persons, swimming pool, gym, children’s park, tennis court, lounge/reading room and a window gallery.
The pazo has a separate restaurant with an excellent wine cellar, which offers excellent natural produce combined with a modern cuisine, working with the unquestionable freshness of the best Galician produce: seafood, fish, meat and vegetables, filloas (Galician pancakes, empanadas (Galician meat or fish pies), etc.
The pazo has its own parking area for cars and buses.
Activities
Strolls, trekking, drives, active tourism -canoeing, surf school, paintball, archery, etc. - diving, boat trips, kart rental, etc.
Guests can also visit the Sargadelos ceramic factory, the Sea Museum, the museum-ship Boniteiro de Burela and participate in the most spectacular fiesta of Galicia, A Rapa das Bestas, held in early July.
